Project of two detached houses in Porqueres, in the Pla de l’Estany.
Two sisters commission us to design two detached houses on two adjacent and completely flat plots.
We propose a configuration consisting of three volumes, formed by the two houses and a storage room, which together create a common central courtyard. The living spaces are oriented towards this central courtyard, protected from direct solar radiation by a system of pergolas and climbing plants surrounding the courtyard. Space is left at the rear for a vegetable garden.
The houses are conceived as low-energy buildings, with a compact volume heavily insulated, and passive comfort systems such as cross ventilation and thermal inertia, as well as active high-efficiency systems like aerothermal heating.
